Donation Policy

Plymouth Public Library book sales occur in June and January. Plymouth Public Library is only able to accept donations prior to booksales. The library will accept donations during the following months: April, May, June, November, December and January.
The Plymouth Public Library welcomes donations of books and other materials of value. This policy serves to clarify which items are desirable, acceptable, and usable.

Donated items are evaluated according to the same criteria as items purchased by the library, and accepted only with the explicit understanding that the library may dispose of them in a suitable manner.

The Plymouth Public Library has prepared a wish list of much needed and desired items. This list may be seen at any of the public desks or in consultation with the Library Director or Development Coordinator.

The library accepts the following as gifts: bestsellers, classics, general adult fiction and nonfiction, children's books, good quality paperbacks, DVDs, CDs, books on CD, as well as historical materials.

The library will not accept the following as gifts: VHS tapes, books on cassette tapes, books in poor condition, musty, water damaged or insect infected items, books with markings or underlining, out of date textbooks, periodicals, Readers Digest Condensed books, encyclopedias, software, and discards from other libraries.
The Plymouth Public Library gratefully acknowleges all gifts of money or materials. The library will provide receipts for all items donated, however, by law, no dollar value may be set by the library for items donated.
